Its about that time of year again. People begin asking, "what do you want for Christmas?" So to help the grandparents and other friends and family members I am putting together my wish list. I will update this as I think of things, and remember its a wish list, or a place for you to get ideas about what I want. I hope this doesn't sound greedy or selfish. It's just a place for me to put things together when I think of them instead of saying, Ooooh I would like one of those for Christmas and then forgetting about it 5 minutes later. Hey but I guess if I forget about it then I really don't need it right? Anyway, here I go:
First and most importantly, I want a new microwave. Yes we have one, but that's about where it's usefulness ends. Let me describe to you the state of our microwave. It is a dial model. Its hard to put something in the microwave for thirty seconds when the margin of error is 2 minutes. Not that I ever need to put something in for thirty seconds, because it has so little power everything needs five minutes. Lately I think its been getting worse too. And to top it all off, I burnt popcorn in it the other day. Oh no big deal you say. Yes big deal. I burnt it so bad there was puffs of smoke coming out of it and the entire microwave still smells like burnt popcorn every time we use. I have scrubbed and aired out, but the smell won't leave. So someone please take pity on our poor little microwave and let us bury it.
Another thing I've noticed that I don't have and would like are serving bowls. I went to a party yesterday where I took some food and I didn't have anything nice to put it in. I am thinking a nice assortment of sizes and shapes and colors would be nice.
Another thing at the top of my "want" list is a nice "dressy" winter coat. Its getting cold, and I always end up wearing my ski jacket or sweaters that aren't quite warm enough. I was thinking like a pea coat or something that would look nice so I can go to church or other meetings looking nice.
Tim and I have been looking into diploma frames for May. This doesn't have to be a Christmas present either. If anyone wanted to make it a graduation gift that would be appreciated as well. I don't know if anyone has seen diploma frames recently but they are expensive!! If you were to buy them from the bookstore they are ridiculous. However we found a guy who does local photography who also does diploma frames for the universities here. His photos are amazing and the quality of everything we have seen has been top of the line. His prices are also very reasonable. Here is his website, just click on diploma frames to see his styles and prices. According to him, all of the colors and pictures are customizable. The styles that I like are the frame with the tassel or the vertical frame with one picture. He has also been willing to negotiate prices when we bought multiple pictures from him, so that might be a possibility as well if we want to purchase both frames together. Anyway, here is his website, don't forget to look at his scenery stuff, its beautiful. http://www.cjexpeditions.com/index.html
Now we are getting in to more "me me me" things, but aren't those what wish lists are all about. I would like a scrapbooking tote. This is a large roll around scrapbooking headquarters. I am starting to accumulate a collection of papers, stickers, gizmos and gadgets that I would like to be able to take with me easily or store away neatly. The only things that I would like to specify on this is that it fits 12x12 albums and rolls and has a carry handle (I have stairs I have to go up and down). There are some really expensive ones out there and some more reasonably priced. The internet is a great place to look for these.
With the scapbooking theme I would love some more gizmos and gadgets. Some that I would like include: paper cropper, punches: all shapes and sizes, packages of paper, stickers, rubber stamps, ink, embossing stuff: iron and ink, markers, stencils, misc embellishments like rivets and brads. If you have any questions about this stuff give me a call and I can tell you what I mean or go to the local craft store and marvel at all of the amazing things people have come up with.
As most of you know I am getting certified in SCUBA this semester. I am absolutely loving it!! Unfortunately SCUBA is a gear oriented sport and I can't afford most of it now. What I'm NOT asking for is to be completely geared up. That would be way to much to ask and I would like to see what I like before I commit to any one style or type of equipment. There are however smaller accessories that I would like. Such as a dive knife, its a knife with a blunt tip so you don't accidentally stab your air supply, but can cut yourself free or use it to poke around marine environments. A goody bag is another accessory. Something to put those crabs and other treasures in while I go exploring. I have a watch that is water proof to any depth that I will ever be diving to and it has a timer and temperature. Although I don't know how accurate it can be because it sits right on my skin. But it does seem to respond well to water temperatures well. Other things with the diving theme would be books on diving, such as where to go. Like I said diving stuff can be expensive so I'm not expecting a whole lot.
Here is a silly thing I want for Christmas, Star Wars: Lego 2 The Original Trilogy for XBOX. As most of you know I like star wars. Well here is a game that tells the star wars story but with legos. I've played it before and it was fun. I have an entry about it somewhere else on here. I've never asked for video games for Christmas before. I almost feel like a 10 year old boy, but its a fun little game, I'll play it with you if you come and visit. You could probably find it used which is great too!
This is about where my list ends for now. If I think of anything I'll add it on.
